Out of the many mystical beings in the ancient Indian mythology a few names emerge not as often as the others. One such less-heard tribe is of the Kimpurusas. These lion-headed beings lived in the inaccessible regions of the Himalayan mountains, and had limited interaction with the ancient Indian civilization. Various references of the Kimpurusas appear in the Puranas and the Mahabharata. According to Mahabharata, Kimpurusas were present at Yudhishtira’s Ashwamedhikaparva and also when Maharishi Agastya drank up the ocean to reveal the hiding demons.
Such intriguing tales! I wish to come face to face with them more often.
